Who are we?

Project 180 is a gang prevention partnership dedicated to working with at-risk youth by helping them make better decisions through caring adult relationships, after-school programs, youth development, diversion programs, service learning, job skills training, tattoo removal, parenting skill building, crisis response, and teaching life skills. Project 180 is funded by the Kern County Board of Supervisors under the leadership of the Joint City / County Standing Committee to Combat Gang Violence and with administrative support from the Kern County Department of Human Services.

Project 180 is a collaborative partnership of the following non-profit, faith-based and governmental agencies:

Our goal is to identify youth who are at risk of joining gangs and those who are in gangs and turn them around through early identification, assessment, and referral to support services, mentoring, after school programs, parenting skill building, job skills training and case management to track their progress.

The Process

Students are referred to us by parents, child serving agencies, City and County School staff, and Community and Court Schools staff. After initial assessment and evaluation we connect the students to the services they need. For example; before and after school tutoring, leadership training, substance abuse treatment, career training, community service/service learning and positive/healthy activities that will help them become responsible and caring adults.
